Today marks the 60th anniversary of the dedication of Bowen Elementary School, the fourth neighborhood school building serving Thompsonville and nearby parts of Newton Centre. The celebration included a musical, with programs, photos and news clippings circulated by the Bowen PTO. Those clippings also show a strong showing for Congressman John F. Kennedy in what was then a Republican stronghold.

A special event is planned for this coming February. Bowen Alumni are asked to get in touch with the Bowen PTO, as well as anyone with information on this photo album.

I wonder how much it cost to build Bowen in 1952? (Note: it was built in the playground for what was the old Bowen School on Langley Road)
