I had shunned McDonald’s until I went to a Navy Reunion in Spokane Washington a few years back with my commanding officer when I was stationed in Morocco in the early 60’s. Lyle Stephenson (the best boss I ever had) is a retired 95 year old marine officer who introduced me to McDonald’s Senior Coffee and some of their salads and less filling meals. Three mornings a week I go to the Y at 6 AM and a stop at the Needham Street McDonald’s on my way there was something I looked forward to. Now, my whole schedule has been disrupted and it’s almost impossible to find any other place that is open that early. I’ve had to start making my own before I go. Somehow, it’s not the same. If that’s the biggest problem I have, etc. etc.
Bob:
There is another McDonalds near the Stop and Shop in Watertown. Not that far out of your way.
@Fignewtonville. Thanks. I know, but it doesn’t open till 6 or 6:30.
….not only that but Sean would certainly prefer that you don’t drive there!
@Greg. I’d be for that if Sean would pick me up and take me home, preferably in some kind of motor conveyance. No alpacas need apply.
Bob, would you sit in a sidecar?
@Schlock. Absolutely, as long as I get my coffee and got to the Y by 6.
Patch reports that the Needham St. Starbucks is also closed for renovations.
I am eagerly awaiting the completion of this project. NOT because I eat at McDonald’s (I don’t), but because I live RIGHT behind there (you can now see my apartment since the building is no more) and the noise from the construction is not fun.
