Guess that explains all the sirens. I thought there must be a really big fire from what I was hearing.
I heard that the MWRA is planning to take advantage of this to expand their boat tour offering. The antediluvian package had been limited to the aqueduct only!
Isn’t this the same spot where there was a man hole explosion a few months back?
UPDATE FROM THE CITY WEBSITE:
Needham Street is now open to one lane of traffic in each direction. You should anticipate delays throughout the area. Repair of the water main is expected to continue throughout the evening and into tomorrow morning.
Needham Street is now open to pedestrian traffic.
Further updates will be posted as they become available on http://www.newtonma.gov.

Just what I was thinking, NewtonMom.
Thank you for the heads up!
I’m not sure about yesterday, but today Needham St is open and clear. I’m sure businesses could use some make-up business. Especially Farm Grill which was at point zero; http://www.farm-grill.com
