The Herald Marjorie Eagan has an interesting column today about Newton-native, Boston City Councilor and candidate for Boston mayor Mike Ross
Much has been written about Ross’ father, Stephen, rescued by American soldiers from the Dachau concentration camp. The starving teenager’s parents, siblings, aunts, uncles and cousins were all murdered by Nazis.
But almost nothing has been written about the mother Ross agreed to talk about Friday in his South Boston campaign headquarters “for one reason. Because it’s who I am,” he said. “It’s where my values come from, these two amazing people with radically different lives.”
The good news about Mike Ross is that he has a strong voter base of over 50K registered voters. The bad news is that they’re all here in Newton.

@Josh: So now you’re using Howie Carr as your source for factual information?
Greg, if the Newton TAB and Gatehouse Media had more columnists like Howie Carr, maybe you wouldn’t be seeing so many Newton TABs residing on people’s lawns and sidewalks for weeks on end. I can see why Herald Media sold CNC to Gatehouse but I’m having trouble understanding why Gatehouse Media paid $225 million for it. Did Gatehouse Media get it at a fire sale? If so, it appears that they got burned.
If you’d like, I can go back to quoting financial information about the City of Newton based on online reports available at the Comptroller’s webpage.
