Lia Fahey, made her debut on Twitter yesterday pointing to her new website, announcing that she’s running for alderman from Ward 2.
Lia, a Republican activist and the daughter of Newton activist Dan Fahey, joins declared candidates Emily Norton and Jack Leader in a contest to replace Alderman Steve Linsky, who has decided not to seek reelection.
If all three candidates submit their papers and stay in the contest, we will have a run-off election in September to determine the final two candidates for November.
Along with the at-large-contest in Ward 5 between incumbents Brian Yates and Deb Crosley and challenger Chris Steele, this could be the other really interesting race to watch this fall.
All three Ward 2 candidates bring something new to the table and potentially address this question, which I asked back in January.
By the way, I suspect Lia’s last name helps her a lot more than her political affiliation.
I think Tom Sheff wins the Stuff that is not true trophy for March.

It’s terrific to see new blood in Newton politics.
From what I’ve heard, Lia has picked up quite a bit from her father, in particular the arts of diplomacy and critical thinking. I wish her luck.
Knock on all of Ward 2’s doors and anything is possible!
