The “3 Questions 1 City” pro-override signs sprouted like crocuses across Newton today (including this one illegally placed on the berm along Woodward Street).
Given that there’s an estimated $11.4 million in tax increases at stake, you’d think someone would be organizing in opposition. But will there be?
Yes, there is opposition! The first citywide meeting of Moving Newton Forward, which urges three NO votes on the three override proposals, will occur Wednesday, February 6th, at 7 pm at the Post 440 at 295 California Street. Our goal is to demonstrate that Newton has plenty of money, while we protect Newton’s most common good—household income.

By the way, I haven’t seen any crocus, but the witch hazel is about to bloom…
I am the Research Director of Moving Newton Forward and my group would be delighted to contribute guest posts explaining why we’re opposed to these three override questions.
Joshua and Suzanne,
Does your group have a website, or will it have one soon?
What says the simple son?
I am curious about your name selection. I think it would be better named Moving Newton Backward. I just googled Moving Newton Forward and it was the name of the pro override group for the last proposal.
Joshua and Suzanne: Thanks for your comments. I’m sure everyone reading this blog would be interested in knowing more about your group and why this is important to you.
… and why you would choose a name that was the catch-phrase of the current mayor’s election campaign as well as the name of a previous pro-override group? Lack of imagination or something else?
BTW, the sign in the photo above was moved from the berm just a few hours after we published it.
What says the wicked son?
“Do not answer the fool according to his foolishness, lest you become equal to him. Answer the fool according to his foolishness, lest he be wise in his own eyes.”
Janet, when did you become so devout?
I’ve seen far too many ‘Vote Yes’ signs on people’s lawns, but almost no ‘Vote No’ signs. Where can I get a ‘Vote No’ sign?
Signs from Moving Newton Forward (with Fiscal Responsibility) are available by sending an email to [email protected]. Thanks for asking!
