Bernie Sanders’ Newton campaign will be hosting a wide screen viewing of the first Democratic Presidential debate on Tuesday, October 13th at the West Newton Cinema, 1296 Washington Street, West Newton.  Doors open at 8 PM and we will have a short organizing and public comment period starting at 8:30 PM. The debate screens from 9-11 PM.  The concession stand will be open for soft drinks, coffee, tea, snacks and the West Newton Theater’s famous buttered popcorn.

So far, over 150 people have signed up to attend.

Bernie’s campaign has electrified his supporters and altered the dynamics of this year’s Presidential race.  I have absolutely no idea how things will play out over the next several weeks and months and I suspect that nobody else does either.  The one thing I do know is that Bernie will never embarrass me or any of his other supporters by what he says or by what he does. I have never backed any candidate for any other office that has spoken more wisely and passionately about what’s gone wrong in America and how we can fix it.  So, what seemed impossible just a few months back, is now at least within the realm of the possible.

The Sander campaign asks volunteers to help organize strong local campaigns in our cities and towns in Massachusetts, so it’s “All Hands on Deck” in Newton for those that want to help until the first week in March.  We’ll have a few ideas about how you can help us move Bernie’s efforts forward when we convene next Tuesday at the West Newton Cinema.
