From Mayor Setti Warren’s office:

City of Newton to Hold Vigil this Wednesday

This week, the City of Newton joins communities across the country and the world in mourning the victims of the tragic shooting last week in Newtown, CT. All residents are cordially invited to join us on Wednesday, December 19th at 6pm in the War Memorial of Newton City Hall for a vigil in remembrance of those whose lives were lost. The service will feature remarks from Mayor Setti Warren and Superintendent of the Newton Public Schools David Fleishman, readings from an interfaith representation of Newton clergy members, and musical performances. As part of the event, we are asking attendees to bring cards, letters or notes in unsealed envelopes to members of the Newtown community. The letters will be collected and sent at the end of the week. A collection box will also be inside the main entrance to Newton City Hall, where letters can be dropped off through the end of the day this Friday, December 21st. We hope that you can join us for this important community event.
