The Burmese Python in question is named “Lightning” because it moves so slowly (kind of like a bald guy being nicknamed “Curly”).
What caught my eye from the note that one of the neighbors circulated was that a Burmese Python can move along the ground as well as through the trees.
Keep. Looking. Up.

Ha! I know snakes move slowly, Ted. I was just being silly. Anyway, about the python hanging out in trees, what Tarik said: Thanks. That makes me feel safer.

Yikes!!
Circle of death?
I’ll see myself out.
Jerry, I wish this was one of your April Fools’ Day stories, but unfortunately it’s not.
“Experts say Burmese Pythons are not venomous but are known to bite.” Thanks. That makes me feel safer.
According to this article in the Boston Globe, the snake is a male and is named Lightning. Let’s hope its owner chose that moniker because of its yellow scales and not because of how fast it travels.

Thank goodness!
Thank goodness is right! No more poolside sunbathing for Lightning from now on (I hope).
According to WBZ: “The owner let Lightning roam in the backyard while he and his son swam in the pool, and that’s when it slithered away.”
Got a notice on my phone today ref this story dated 2 days ago (NBC) – no mention of it being found, LoL
I first saw the ‘found’ update on BC Heights. They said a snake handler found it on Crescent St under a porch (sic).
