Inspired by a national call to action, the Newton Lights for Liberty vigil will bring people together to protest the inhumane conditions faced by refugees. Join us Friday, July 12, on the steps of Newton City Hall to hold a candle and share a moment of silence.
U.S. Congressman Joe Kennedy III will speak at 4PM. This event is co-sponsored by the Newton Dems, Newton Mayor Ruthanne Fuller, City Councilors Emily Norton & Andrea Kelley, with speakers and additional co-sponsors to be announced.
what day?
Friday, July 12. Post has been updated.
The treatment of refugees on the southern border is a national disgrace. Did we learn nothing from the internment of ethnic Japanese during WW2?
I’m not surprised that Trump would use refugees as political hostages. There is no depth to which he will not sink. But I am very surprised that the Democrats have thus far been unable to save these poor people from Trump’s concentration camps. Lottsa talk. Little action.
What time is the whole event? I see that Congressman Kennedy will speak at 4PM, but when does the vigil begin and when is the moment of silence
The event is from 4:00 – 5:30PM. Facebook event is here.
