In Newtonville just a short while ago … hail between the size of a nickle and a quarter. I have never seen anything like this in Newton. Any hail in your village?

Hail, yes! In Waban.
I got reports from Natick, Waltham, Newton Highlands, Cambridge and Boston. It was LOUD!
Nasty hail in Newtonville, put a dozen or so holes in the screens on a screened-in porch, put a 4″ hole in one light of an 8 over 8 sash on the back of the house. Lots of shredded leaves all over the yard. Most of the hail was the size of a marble, maybe some big ones at almost golf ball size. At least we got a soaking rain out of it.
I’m in Brookline now. The building next door to my office was hit by lightning and a fire started on top of it. Very scary. And the street and the parking lot were literally turned white with all the little ice balls. They were not as large as golf balls – perhaps half that size. But very scary.
In Newtonville, the hail was quite large and falling in different directions. It crashed into all of the windows, even going over the wide, covered front porch to hit the front windows. I’ve never seen it go sideways before. Startling. My car was in the driveway and I’m not looking forward to checking it out. I was happy to see the sun come out.
Yes we had hail in the Highlands…and this surprise was waiting for me as I attempted to drive home down our dead end street this evening.
My car look like a golf ball with all the hail dimples. Damage assessed at $2500.00.
