On Thursday (July 13) evening we will be hosting an Irish wake in the upstairs room of Paddy’s Pub in West Newton beginning at 6:30 PM and carrying on until 9.
Come mourn the passing of Village14 or come dance on its grave, whichever your prefer
Like all good Irish wakes their will be lots of memories, plenty of laughs too, and plentiful libations.
Sorry I’ll have to miss it. That location isn’t handicapped accessible.
Oh so sorry about that Meredith. We’ll miss you
Sorry, Jerry, but I, too, will have to demur if there is a set of stairs to climb.
I hope to see some of the regulars who I’ve never met in person.
Is there any chance this could be moved to someplace handicapped accessible so we can be inclusive of the whole V14 family?
Jerry, call bocca Bella in Auburndale. I’m on my 50th high school reunions, and we couldn’t use Paddy’s cuz the stairs. No stairs at bocca
Though I cannot attend the event, alas, I will keep you all in my thoughts. Village 14 provided me and others the opportunity to raise topics we believed worthy of discussion. I learned much from the many debates that the site hosted, cantankerous though they often were. It was also a pleasure to weigh in when the spirit moved me. Thanks to Gail, Sean, Greg, Jerry and the others who kept things afloat, and God bless all of you.
I’d love to attend the V14 wake but too can’t do the stairs right now!
I also won’t be able to join due to a previous commitment (not due to accessibility), but have loved being part of the Village 14 experiment.
It really is a shame however that we can’t do the meet up at a location that is accessible? Could we perhaps delay and find a location that would be more able to accommodate mobility needs?
Sorry I can’t make it due to a previous commitment, but will miss Village 14.
Have a great evening!
So nice to have met this guy tonight who writes under the name of Jerry Reilly. He looks a lot like Greg Reibman.
It was great to see everybody this evening including many of our elected officials.
The two folks I missed though were Sean Roche who was one of the founders of Village14 and Fignewtonville – I was hoping that after all these years he/she might lift the veil of anonymity for the final gathering.
The Endurance Award definitely goes to Jack Leader who was the first to arrive and the last to leave.
Thanks everybody for twelve good years of talking, commenting, complaining, speculating, whining, expounding, explaining, and entertaining us all.
I was tempted to show up to reveal that I was actually Fignewtonville and that our frequent arguments had been an elaborate hoax.
@Debra, I too was going to claim ownership of Fignewtonville. Imagine that, if someone created a pseudonym just to have a foil!
I’d have come but I couldn’t figure out how to bike from Edgartown to Paddy’s Pub and back in time! Only Nathan Phillips could have pulled that off.
