Newton’s Porchfest kicks off tomorrow at noon at various porches and yards in Auburndale, Lower Falls and Waban.
There’ll be over 100 different performances at 72 different locations around these neighborhoods and its all Free! thanks to the sponsors
Porchfest is scheduled to run from noon – 6 PM. I just did a quick look at tomorrow’s hourly weather forecast. At first glance it didn’t look good, with a more detailed look it’s not so bad. According to the hourly forecasts it looks like there could be a few showers at the beginning and/or end but most of the afternoon looks to be cloudy and in the 50’s – just fine weather to walk around and hear a selection of music
Here’s the schedule and here’s the map.
So glad Newton is part of the Porchfest scene. Music is not some commodity that spills through your earbuds or blares on your monitor. It’s something we can *all* enjoy making, whether for our own private enjoyment (singing in the shower) or with — and for — others. There are so many evenings-and-weekends musicians who play just because they love it, and Porchfest is a wonderful showcase for them. Hope the weather doesn’t keep the turnout too low.
In case anyone wondered, the organizers announced Porchfest *will* go on today.
A little raw out there today, but I was happy to see some live music. Always a fun event, regardless of the weather!
It was fun, even if a bit raw. West Newton and Newtonville seem like they’d be good choices for Porchfest. I hope they expand in the future.
