For over 25 years, Newton’s own Catie Curtis toured full-time in the US and Europe, releasing 14 recordings and selling over 250,000 CDs (not to mention streaming and downloads). She has recorded for major (EMI Guardian) and independent labels, collaborating with some of the finest musicians and producers in the country.
These days she no longer tours but she will be playing this Friday Dec 16 with singer-song writer Rose Polenzi at the Allen House, 7:30 PM. Tickets are $25 and available here.
Here’s a story Fig City News ran about Catie this week.
“Have you ever been to a show where you feel an invisible wall between you and the performer? Catie Curtis pulls the walls down.” – Mary Chapin Carpenter, Grammy Award winning singer/songwriter.
I believe that’s Rose *Polenzani* who’s with Catie.
I was there, and it was great. Being shorter than most, I would contribute to the cost of a portable stage, raising tge performers up 18” or so.
I just saw this trying to clear my computer of unread or overlooked material. Catie’s been one of my top favorites since I heard her performing in a concert at WUMB many moons ago. I never knew she was from Newton, but why am I not surprised. Her “Magnolia Street” is other worldly.
@ Bob Burke– Good to see you on V-14. I know you’ve branched off to other places, but it’s great to know you’re still rooted in Newton.
Happy New Year!
Mike. Many thanks. I love living our here in Marlborough, but I sure do miss Newton and all of you.
