NewMo, Newton’s on-demand ride sharing service is nearly three years old. The service has grown in steps and is now a well established part of local transportation system.
The city recently undertook a top-to-bottom review of NewMo to learn what users liked, what they didn’t and how best to improve the system.
The focus groups and the user surveys all pointed to the same conclusion. People like the “Mo” but not the “New”.
Says Transportataion Planner Nicole Freeman “that message is generally consistent across the board. All things being equal, the public just doesn’t usually like ‘new'”. We’ve revamped the entire system. We’ve locked in the features that the customers love – ‘on-demand’, ‘phone-accessible’, ‘low price’ but replaced the fleet of EV cars with horse drawn carriages. Customers love it! the vibe of the 1800’s with the convenience of the 2020’s.
Note: this post was just a bit of April Foolery
YeOldCAL re-branding can’t be far behind
The fact that a block of residents in this city don’t like “new” isn’t really news.
So forget the city seal debate, what about the city name? “Ye ole ton”
Horse-drawn carriage by app would be absolutely awesome.
