Exactly one week before curtain up on opening night, with the cast and crew in preparations to finally rehearse a run-through of the show from start to finish for the first time, Principal Turner gathered the faculty and show’s director and let them know that schools would be shutting down the very next day and they only had that evening available to them. Less than an hour later the show, indeed, went on for its one and only performance.
Cast member and Newton North senior Alex Wymer spent the first months of the pandemic putting together a short documentary of the experience of all who were involved and how they turned something that should have been a disappointment into a triumph. Now, two years into the pandemic, the film is an interesting and uplifting time capsule.
Great job on the documentary. It told the whole story really well.
As someone who’s involved in much simpler theater productions I was totally wow’ed by the bodacious’ness of what they pulled off – particularly with a show that big and with so many moving parts.
Kudos to everyone who was involved!
