… not to shop local.
Village Bank is picking up the tab for all the parking meters in the city for this year’s annual Small Business Saturday on Nov 27, the Saturday afternoon after Thanksgiving.
Says bank president Joseph A. Devito, “As a community bank, The Village Bank understands how important local businesses are to our communities,” De Vito said. “Our goal is to not only encourage members of the community to support businesses, but also to help businesses make the most of the selling season.”
I’m a huge fan of the Village Bank, not only does Susan Paley and her crew from the bank support nearly every event I like and appreciate in the city, the bank has wonderful and personal customer service … says a guy who is so happy he is longer dealing with Bank of America customer service every time he or his wife talks to Hasmik at the Waban branch. We’ve been talking to Hasmik a lot these days … every time my freshman daughter in Seoul, Korea loses another ATM card. Hasmik always quickly sorts it out. Love that crew and their service.
Thanks Joe .. and Susan ..and Hasmik
Will the automated machines and parking app reflect this or will they still require payment? I was a bit disappointed to see so many people duped during the early stage of the pandemic when things were supposed to be free.
Aside from that, The Village Bank is great! There was an article/study a few years ago that (I believe) essentially said banking locally is the #1 way (will cause the most benefit) most people can fight a plethora of socio-economic issues from climate change to racial injustice.
True or not, The Village Bank spends hundreds of thousands of dollars, if not more, on local sponsorships every year, while Bank of America spends nothing. I have been with them for about five years and will never go back to Bank of America.
I love to see a local business do things like this, and act like part of the community.
Village Bank should open a branch in Newton Corner, which now has (checks the list, counts it up twice) – zero banks. None (careful what you wish for, “too many bank branches” crowd).
They may get my business, whether they cover meters or not.
Village Bank took over First Commons Bank, same location. About 4 years ago, First Commons Bank did this in all of Newton Centre for a few days running, maybe as long as a week. They set the precedent that VB is now maintaining.
