Maria is one of the nicest people on the Council, thoughtful to a fault. She is also a great advocate for her neighborhood, and was before she entered the political fray.
As a Ward 1 resident, I appreciate Maria’s visibility, responsiveness and personal connection to the entire community. That is one of the primary things I look for in a local leader.
Based on what I see driving around Nonantum, if Lawn Signs voted, this race will be the biggest landslide defeat of an incumbent in this election.
Bruce Wang, I’m not sure lawn signs are that accurate a predictor of who will win an election. If they were, we’d have a much different city council…
With that said, Maria has an uphill battle to fight for sure. From everything I’ve heard and seen, she is extremely focused on Ward 1 constituent service, so that will help her. She’s a terrific ward city councilor in my opinion, and I don’t even live in her ward.
Maria has been a terrific supportive and responsive ward councilor – just wish Nonantum and Newton Corner had their own ward instead of being conjoined. Their needs differ greatly and sadly to the detriment of both areas. Newton corner / at least the North side / was a very lively place – the original seat of newton –
