We got a tip a few weeks ago about the world premiere of a brand new one woman show by Joanne Callum Powers – Miss Delta Township.
We hopped in the car for a road trip and went to see one of the final performances before it closed … and we loved it !! It was smart, moving, wildly inventive and uproariously funny.
We have paired up with our friends at the Newton Cultural Alliance to bring three performances of the show to the wonderfully restored historic Nathaniel Allen House on Fri Nov 5, and Sat Nov 6 – 7:30 PM plus a just added Sunday matinee at 3 PM.
Can your story be a coming-of-age tale when you’ve already reached a certain age? “Miss Delta Township” answers that question with a story about trying to fit your fantastical dreams into an ordinary life.
“Powers has created a story which is fast, hilarious, surprising and deeply moving.”
Seating is limited and there are only two performances so don’t wait to order tickets before they sell out.
NOTE: All guests must bring proof of vaccination with them to the performance.
As per City of Newton’s current rules, guests must wear masks while inside the Allen House
I can’t say enough good things about this show! It made me laugh and cry simultaneously. I saw it three times at the Cape Rep Theater!
Saturday’s show is sold out. Tickets still available for Friday Nov 5
We’ve just added an additional Sunday 3 PM matinee performance
Friday and Sat both sold out … but still plenty of tickets available for Sunday’s 3 PM matinee
This show took my breath away—it’s lively, it’s funny and then it’s suddenly deeply sad. Joanne Callum Powers is an actor who can inhabit vastly different characters with empathy and humor, and they will stay with you. I saw her play on the Cape and can’t wait to see it again in Newton.
