We are so sorry to announce that we have decided to pull the plug on the plans for this year’s Feast of the Falls.
We have a long history of pulling off very ambitious plans on very short notice but this time we definitely got ahead of ourselves and out ran our own optimism and enthusiasm.
We had high hopes for pulling in lot of new sponsors and participants in this year, moving the Feast to Upper Falls and doing it all while navigating the complexities of an epidemic. Doing that all within two and a half weeks turned out to be beyond our abilities and resources.
In years gone by the Feast has always been something magical and awe inspiring. Rather than disappoint with a thrown-together lackluster event we’ve decided to cancel next week’s Feast … but begin today planning next June’s Feast on the Upper Falls Greenway and make it the biggest, best ever.
We are so sorry to disappoint all of you who have been so enthusiastic about the return of the Feast, particularly all of you enthusiastic volunteers. Please accept our apology.
Thanks Jerry! This is one of the most special events of the year. So glad you’ve found a way to pull it together for September 19th where Upper Falls can come together & show their Newton community (or village) pride!

@Jerry. Many thanks for just giving it a try and while I would have loved to attend, fully understood and supported your decision to limit it to Upper Falls residents.
Plus, just trying to put the Feast on this year maintains some kind of strength and continuity that hopefully will carry things to full success next year. Not even trying to have an event two years running raised the odds that it might have faded completely. Now, that’s unlikely to happen. Thanks again to you and everyone else in Upper Falls who have made the Feast one of Newton’s premier annual social events.
Would you consider inviting people to bring their own food and chairs to Braceland or Emerson field, to share a meal, this fall?
It might give a lift to people’s spirits.
I look forward to the return of the magical Feast of the Falls return next year, when you might once again lift the rope for us outoftowners.
