NewtonSERVES, the annual day of volunteer community service, will be on Sunday May 2 this year. Volunteers should sign up here by April 19, for one of this year’s 30 projects.
Due to the pandemic, last year was the first time in 20 years that NewtonServes was cancelled. This year it’s back with outdoor projects only and Covid protocols in place.
There are all sorts of different kind of great projects all over the city but I’ll put in a plug for my pet project.
Come join us on The Upper Falls Greenway for a spring clean up. We’ll be picking up trash, cutting back vegetation, feeding the tiger, and various other kinds of sprucing up activities along the mile long walking trail.
Newton Serves is one of my favorite Newton Events! I’ll make a plug for my day job-Come join the folks at Pathway to Possible to help beautify Juniper House- our residence on Newtonville Ave. (pathway2possible.org) I can’t offer you the chance to feed a Tiger but we do end the clean-up with a family friendly outdoor cook-out! Hope to see you there!
Can’t wait. One of my fav local traditions. (However I will miss the Cabot’s banquet at the end!)
