My heart is breaking with the sad news that former Newton Dems Secretary, Progressive Newton co-founder, and local activist Robert Fitzpatrick passed away today.
He is survived by his wife Neysha and his young daughter Amelia. Donations in Robert’s memory can be made to support Amelia’s education here: https://www.gofundme.com/f/robert-fitzpatrick-memorial-fund?fbclid=IwAR2ewda9gBqtU1R8NdQ1p0JNqEZiWB_VQDloVcBfpRdpm2M34tM4HAoFsbs
Robert was one of the kindest, friendliest and nicest person that I have had the pleasure of knowing. He will be missed.
Robert Fitzpatrick was a great, giving soul who always stood up for the right things. I am just devastated that he was taken from us, especially at this moment in history and especially because of how much he adored his 4-year-old daughter Amelia. Please fight for something decent over the next few weeks in his name and memory.
Everything that Ralph said. Robert was an incredibly kind and thoughtful human being, with so much to give. A heartbreaking loss for our community, for all who knew Robert, and especially for the light of his life, Amelia.
My heart is broken- among other things he contributed to make the world a better place- his posts about his daughter on Facebook were the highlight of my feed. He adored her, and I adored how much he loved his family.
I above all respected Robert’s passion. He was honest and forthright. He always spoke from the heart. You never needed to ask what he believed and what he did not believe, and when others were dishonest, he was offended. He was a good person who gave generously of his time for Democratic causes. Although he was not a close friend, he was a close associate of mine and over the years I grew fonder and fonder of him.
People have spoken about his relationship with his daughter that was heart rendering. Love was a big part of his every Facebook page that featured Amelia. She had him for four years, and we all wish that she had had him for a lifetime.
I will miss Robert deeply. I already do.
This is so sad – Robert was a great guy. Incredibly smart and knowledgeable. And patient. A hardcore sports fan as ll. And most of all he was a fantastic, dedicated father. I will miss him and will always remember hanging out with him at Brewers – a favorite spot.
That should read, “as well.” Rest in peace Robert – we will miss you.
