I’m sure Newton’s Nancy Schön has seen many additions to her marvelous set of sculptures in the Public Garden, but I’m guessing she never expected something like this.
Setting an example in the Public Garden

I love these geese and all of their seasonal clothes. This one surprised me.
Ducks! I really like it!
BTW, Paul Levy are you following the MWRA project on Commonwealth Ave by Valentine. This is off topic, but it seems like the project is taking a long time. Meanwhile water is flowing down the drain 24 hours a day. Any thoughts? Thanks!
Dunno, sorry.
I do. The MWRA is upgrading this pump connection prior to a multi-million $$ dep rock tunnel redundancy project. The City of Boston and everything within 128 on the MWRA water supply system is supplied by one tunnel. The valves are so old that they don’t turn them unless they have to— if one should break, Boston would have to shut down until it could be fixed. It would be worse than what we are now experiencing in terms of threat to health and shut down of jobs. By upgrading this pumps station (and many others around the region), alternative supply lines can be used during the period until the second water tunnel can be built.
Second answer: everything is taking longer because of measures in place to reduce spread of the corona virus.
Hope this helps
Thanks. Good project. Unfortunate so much water has to go down the drain…
