Sssh! Don’t tell Lieutenant Governor Politito that I nudged her off the Village14 headline.
I am excited about both the projects announced this morning. I’m particularly pleased that they are taking on the tricky technical/legal effort to extend the Upper Falls Greenway to Winchester St. That had always been the ideal plan from when the Greenway was first being envisaged. Now if we can only get Needham to warm up to the idea of extending the Greenway in the opposite direction, across the river into Needham.
An ironic situation there: We’ve been trying/hoping to encourage Needham to continue the Upper Falls Greenway across the river for years – to no avail. Meanwhile during that same time Needham has built a similar path on the same set of railroad tracks at the opposite side of town. They had hoped to continue it across the river into Dover and Dover has said “no way”. We’re slowly building a very big dotted line trail. I do hope over time all of these towns will come to their senses and realize the benefits of a continuous trail.
Way to go !
