Wandering through the Harvest Fair today, I had a chance to visit with a number of the City Council and School Committee candidates (some shown here), and I was reminded again that we owe them all a debt of gratitude. It’s not an easy time to put yourself forward to the voters and to take on the slings and arrows of comments–both public and private–about your views, your personality, and other aspects of your life (both relevant and irrelevant). And then the winners will be expected to devote thousands of hours of time that could otherwise be spent with family and friends doing our business. So, with two weeks to go before the election, I just wanted to say “Thank you!” to those who took the plunge. I, for one, am truly grateful.
Thanks to all the candidates!

I wholeheartedly agree
I agree with your post and if there had been a like button just for posts, I would have hit it. I appreciated their willingness to meet and engage as well. But am I the only one who’s amused by the upside down photo on the home page? Just me?
I can’t figure out how to fix that! But I kind of like it . . . .
Me too. “Candidates standing on their heads for the voters”
Thanks also the Harvest Fair organizers. This was one of those many projects that had been lead by the late Linda Plaut and, while the Festival of the Arts has been named in her honor, this event is also the result of her vision and perseverance
I’m not sure who or how many folks took it over, but this had to be one of the biggest and best attended fairs in years. These things are a ton of work.
And whoever was in charge of the weather, should defiantly take that job next year.
mazel tov to all the candidates as they had the guts to run rather than screaming from the cheap seats.
