The Newton Nomadic Theater regularly hosts nights of storytelling called the Nomad Story Slam. From time to time I dive into the archive of 100’s of stories that have been told at the Nomad Story Slam over the last six years and pull out one of my favorites.e
We held out very first Nomad Story Slam in Nov 2014. To help us kick it off with a bang both Mayor Setti Warren and President of the City Council (aka Board of Alderman) Scott Lennon agreed to come and tell a personal story. The theme of the night was “on the road”. Here’s Scott Lennon’s absolutely wonderful story about “getting the call”.
Don’t miss on Wed Oct 30 the Nomad Story Slam – Election Edition at Gregorian Rugs. We will be doing something that’s never been done by any other municipality other than Newton. All candidates for contested seats on the City Council have been invited to come tell a 5 minute, true, personal story – no speeches, no campaigning, no policy positions – just a good story.
Mayor Ruthanne Fuller will be our host for the evening and outgoing councilor John Rice will be our special guest storyteller
We’ll all take a night off the campaign and meet the people behind the candidates. Don’t miss it. It will definitely sell out so don’t wait for the last minute to get tickets. Tickets ($10) available here
I really miss Scott Lennon’s voice in Newton politics.
One word about Scott. AUTHENTIC!
Love this, Jerry. I miss Lennon being in Newton politics and I really hope he comes back.
@Bryan, @Claire, @Mary – Yes, yes, and yes
BTW – the ticket link was broken now it’s fixed.
