From Ellen Ishkanian in Mayor Fuller’s office:

“Good news. DPW crews worked overnight and made significant progress in repairing the broken water main under Needham Street in front of the Nexus complex (165 Needham Street). The new section of pipe is in place and water service is restored. Customers who lost service on Easy Street and along Needham Street from the intersection of Dedham and Winchester Street in Newton to Tower Road in Needham should turn on their cold water taps until the water runs clear.

Needham Street will open to through traffic at 7:30 a.m. for the morning commute. The roadway needs significant road repair. Traffic may be restricted to one lane in that section at times while crews backfill and pave. You should expect heavy traffic as a result.

Thank you to DPW crews and first responders who worked almost 24 hours straight. A special thank you also to Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza who kept them going with pizza pies. We will update this website when the road repairs are complete.”
