| Newton MA News and Politics Blog If you’ve taken a walk on the Upper Falls Greenway over the last couple of days you’ve started to see sculpture dot the landscape! It’s time of the second annual Greenway Arts project featuring sculpture from Studios Without Walls

We kick things off on Friday from 4pm to 6pm in Pettee Square (corner of Oak and Chestnut) with free ice cream from JP Licks, sweets from Farm Grill Rotisserie and some fun art activities! You may have heard this event scheduled for Thursday, but the rainy forecast pushed us to Friday.

This year’s exhibit called Reverberations features sculptures from 15 artists, including those from Newton and Needham, all exhibited along the mile-long Upper Falls Greenway. The Greenway is one of Newton’s hidden gems, stretching from the Charles River, paralleling Needham Street and ending on Easy Street.

Two of the artists, Gail Jerauld Bos and Anneloes van Beek, plan workshops to that will bookend the launch. Bos will conduct a workshop helping visitors build totems for people they admire, while van Beek’s workshop will be held close to their sculpture located by the Boston Ski and Tennis store.

This year a community raising effort secured more than $10,000 from 44 separate individual and corporate donors, ranging from $18 up through $4000, all to support the arts. The support means that all the artists are paid for their time and effort in putting on this show.

The exhibit will be available for viewing through September 3.
