Since we last heard about the Riverside project in September, Mayor Fuller and Mark Development have decided on a visioning process for the area.

On January 11, Liz commented on another thread on V14 about Riverside:

The City decided to allow a 10 week visioning process at Riverside. The plan is for consultants to be interviewed and selected next week. The entire process is expected to be completed by the end of March. Some, including me, are concerned that this short timeframe will hamstring the process: see Julie Cohen’s piece in the Tab.

Councilors Krintzman and Markiewicz were interviewed for the piece – both are concerned about the timing and the short period of time.

The January 7, 2019 City Council docket included this request from the mayor that was referred to both the Z&P and Finance Committees:

Referred to Zoning & Planning and Finance Committees #29-19 Funds to cover the cost of a vision plan for the Riverside MBTA property

#29-19 HER HONOR THE MAYOR requesting authorization for the acceptance and expenditure of funds provided by the Riverside MBTA property developer to cover the cost of independent consultant support for a vision plan for the Riverside MBTA property.

Few things:

Developer spending their money instead of the city. Good

Independent Consultant. Good

City beginning a vision plan after presentation requiring quick turn around. Not good

End time is March – to coordinate with Mark Dev timeframe? If true, not good.

Vision Plans in general. Meh

What do you think?
