The folks at this house on Woodward Street in the Highlands have had some good Halloween displays over the years. But they really outdid themselves this year.

@Anatoly: Have you considered finding a hobby? A job? Grandkids? Clearly you have too much time on your hands.
Why would anyone waste marijuana edibles by giving them out to unsuspecting trick-or-treaters?
Greg, from the things you are suggesting, I’ve been lacking only a good hobby. But, as you can see, now I’ve got one; and don’t worry please: it doesn’t take much of my time.
I’m not so sure. You seem so stressed out. You know, there’s some products on the market that might be able to help you chill out a little (presuming you’re over 21). Or, more precisely, they will be available soon in Boston, Brookline, Watertown, Waltham and many other communities, including let’s hope, Newton.

OMG. Village 14 goes off the rails. I think American College of Emergency Physicians has spent some time in one of those cannabis retail stores.
Edibles have been around forever. Trust me. ;)
Haven’t had one in 45 years, but they’re nothing new.
Notice how any marijuana warning coming from any physician makes our anti-knowledge party mad.
Anatoly, you’re the one who seems to lack knowledge on lots of marijuana related things. Parents have been inspecting candy since I was small. The chances of a child eating a marijuana containing candy are quite small.
The main harms to children on Halloween, by far, are being hit by a car or catching on fire while wearing flammable homemade costumes. Children need to wear fluorescent gear of some kind and non flammable costumes, be safe and knowledgeable of their surroundings.

My favorite costume ever.
Lets just all agree that it’s solid advice all around to only eat candy that you recognize. So if it’s a Snickers in a sealed wrapper, totally fine. If someone hands you a baggy of unspecified gummies, maybe you throw it out.
But to be honest, that’s an incredibly expensive (and very illegal) Halloween prank.

Fake news? Old news? Shouldn’t we be aware and concerned? Is it more or less likely to happen in a city with pot shops?
Anatoly – Really? Are there cannabis retail stores in Auburn Maine now? A search of “Halloween Colorato Trick or Treating” didn’t reveal anything other than this article https://www.westword.com/marijuana/trick-or-treating-warnings-dont-stop-halloween-from-being-a-boon-for-marijuana-dispensaries-10911207, which says that sales were doing fine that day and at least for 2014 – 2017 NO incidents were reported for cannabis infused treats given to kids.

“In 2014, Colorado’s first year of retail pot sales, the Denver Police Department put out a video warning parents about pot-infused candy appearing in children’s trick-or-treat bags.”
and
“…no incidents involving edibles being given to trick-or-treaters were reported in Denver in 2014 — or 2015, 2016 or 2017, for that matter.”
Prior to the incident that you mentioned, the only other one IN THE COUNTRY, was in Arizona this past February (note that in Arizona cannabis is illegal).
Stop the fear mongering already and give Newton residents the benefit of the doubt for not being so stupid as to give cannabis candy to children on Halloween!
RFSN just discovered a new version of trick or treating – telling a campaign that you’d happily hold a sign for them, specifically at a double polling place, and as it turns out they’re tricksters rather than treaters – total fakes. Yikes. Didn’t they hear that Halloween was three days ago?
