Stella and I are going to miss the free outdoor sculpture exhibit along the Newton Upper Falls Greenway. The greenway is a nice piece of Newton; the artwork makes it even better.
It’s only up until Sunday.

I wish to thank Chuck Tanowitz of the N-Squared Innovation District, volunteers, sponsors and artists who participated in the outdoor art exhibition on the Upper Fall Greenway. With the addition of this world-class art exhibition, a stroll along the Greenway (formerly a derelict railroad track) this summer became a joyous and thought-provoking adventure. The exhibition demonstrates the “creative streak” that makes Newton such a wonderful community.

Thank you!
I walked the old rail line quite regularly before the Upper Falls Greenway was even a thought in anyone’s mind. Long before that, when I was really just a kid, we jumped on board the slow and lumbering freight trains that ran sporadically through Upper Falls to Needham Heights. Never, even in my wildest imagination, (and it could be wild) thought I would see bicycles, a mass of pedestrians, or this kind of eclectic art show along this lonely route. My only regret is the destruction of connecting bridge over 128 from Upper Falls to the Needham side. What Jerry Reilly and other “free spirits” have given us is priceless.
I will miss the art work. (And agree about the destruction of the bridge.) I appreciate all the work done to make the greenway such a great place to be. Maybe next summer a different art exhibition will be displayed. Hint hint. I haven’t been able to walk it much this summer but should be raring to go by the next one. Maybe even on a lime bike.
