I’m just back from the Concert for Venezuala at the First Baptist Church in Newton Centre. It was a wonderful night with great music and a big crowd. I’ve been in there before but I forgot just how spectacular this church is and what a wonderful sound it has for music. It’s magnificent.
The city is lucky to be home to this spectacular building. Even more lucky is that the church supports our community by opening it up for events like tonight’s, for this year’s Martin Luther King community celebration, and for being the New Philharmonia Orchestra’s home. Thanks to First Baptist Church for everything you do for Newton.
The First Baptist Church now has a new Minister of Community Life, John Boopalan. His support for the community is totally outstanding. Together with Sean Witty and Kate Hilliker, they are such a warm and welcoming team. I absolutely join Jerry in thanking them for everything they do for Newton!
The First Baptist church in Newton is truly magnificent inside. But beyond the building being awesome, its the team that makes the difference.
Welcome to John Boopalan, the new minister.
The wood in this church is beautiful, particularly the arches. It has the look and feel of the first cathedrals although it has a more modern touch.
I too appreciate this church’s cntribution to the community. I was last there to see Stephen King a few monmths ago.
as a Venezuela American, I’m grateful to the First Baptist Church in Newton for opening its door to allow so many of us who wanted to do something for the Venezuelan people but did not know how to help. Maria Beatriz Arvelo, and team of organizers, Minister Boopalan, thank you. Friday night, my family and I were elated by the altruistic energy in the Church, what a beautiful group of people, I felt so human, so connected to the great capacity of humanity to create beautiful music, food (Thank you Ellana’s Kitchen), and company to help others in great need. Thank you for inviting me and family to be part of this meaningful event!!!
It was a lovely event. My favorite were the clarinets. I hadn’t been in the church before and it is definitely beautiful inside. Those organ pipes are something else.
@Mary Mary Not a Bit Contrary – My favorites were the clarinets too
