While people like me were hunkering under layers of blankets, watching mediocre movies and hoping the power stays on, one Newtonite was outside practicing his Jedi light saber moves. I am not sure how effective light sabers are in clearing snow, but this young man put out more of an effort than I have so far. Anyway, the Globe, UniversalHub, Channels 7, 4 and 25, and CNN Headline News were impressed, as was I.
Original Facebook post from Alex Wymer’s father, Greg, is here:
It didn’t fully help. I know there are still people without power this evening who would probably enjoy a nice, quite dinner by saber light.
This young jedi appears to be holding his light saber by the longer blade not the shorter handle. Doesn’t that hurt?
Only a Jedi can answer that.

Several issues here, not limited to the fact that she’s working on the wrong side of the board.
Oh, and the searing flesh.
Ok, no one mock me for this:
That’s a saberstaff, otherwise known as a double bladed lightsaber. My kids have the same one. Two blades, connecting in the middle. From the first prequel I believe Darth Maul according to my eldest. It was the cat’s meow for kids jedi toys back 20 years ago, and the new ones have provided my kids with hours of fake sword fighting fun, as well as multiple broken things in my home.
So no burning of flesh or incorrect hold. Still not sure how much use it would be on a noreaster, but willing to try anything at this point, plus now we can bring up this video as a warning that snow is coming.

Oh Figgy:
I ‘m so glad you cleared that up. I was worried about the searing.
Force be with us every one!
