Recently a few posters have asked how people keep on top of what’s going on in City government.  For me there is no single better source of detailed information in a very readable form than Councilor Amy Sangiolo’s email newsletters.  When her term ends soon not only will we be losing her as a councilor, I’m assuming we’ll lose her wonderful newsletters too.

Fortunately, Councilor Jake Auchincloss has also been putting out very good email newsletters as well.  Amy’s is a weekly newsletter.  Jake’s I’m not sure of the schedule.   I’d say Amy’s are more comprehensive and include lots of the details of everything coming before the Council and its committees – great for wonks.  Jake’s are more big picture.  They focus more on just the issues that are most likely to interest larger groups of citizens and also include other pertinent material that may not be in front of the Council at the moment.

Many thanks to both Amy Sangiolo and Jake Auchincloss for this voluntary and  creative public service.  It takes a lot of work to regularly crank these type of newsletters out.

To subscribe to Amy Sangiolo’s newsletter go to www.amysangiolo.com and sign yourself up.  Jake’s, I’m don’t remember how to sign up.  Maybe he can weigh in.

If any of the other councilors publish regular newsletters that cover the details of city business and issues (i.e. not campaign material) please let us know.

Here’s a sample of Amy’s most recent issue:

Good Morning Newton Residents,
