The big news on Needham St is that the soon-to-be-vacated premises of Radio Shack in the Marshalls Plaza will soon be converted into a marijuana dispensary.
Says Chamber of Commerce president, and mayoral candidate Greg Reibman “This is a game changer. We’ve been working to get the right mix of diverse retail businesses in the area and the lack of a pot store was an obvious and gaping hole in the retail landscape.”.
Says Reibman “This is a huge plus for the development of the N2 Innovation Corridor. Many of the tech companies we’re hoping to attract employ a younger workforce that tend to have a higher concentration of the kind of medical problems that the dispensary addresses …. if you know what I mean”
Apparently Northland (owner of the Marshall’s Plaza) has rehashed its rental policies.
With no protected bike lanes on Needham Street, I plan to get there from the Greenway. After which Mary Jane and I will take the high road home.
This will be short lived, there are bigger plans coming for that whole area
High rises?
In 1984, on the other side of the parking lot out past the Newport Creamery and the Fotomat, I purchased my first LP, a copy of the “Purple Rain” soundtrack, over at Good Vibrations.
Now I learn that 33 years later in the very same parking lot, that monochromatic rain will be turning to haze. Plus ça change, plus c’est la même chose. Nature works in mysterious ways.
I figured Greg was too square(d) to get the benefits of weed in the corridor
BTW, Marti’s is the funniest sentence I’ve ever read that includes the phrase “protected bike lanes.”
@Sean – You mean this guy (far left)
