Walk, drive, bike, fly, or arrive on the T. Bring an umbrella, because rain only makes for more fun! Rides, entertainment, activities, neighbors, friends, friendly neighbors, neighborly friends. And a Family Fun Run! Check out details on wabanimprovement.org. On Sunday, May 22 in Waban Square!
And while you’re there, check out the landscape design schematic generously donated to start the enhancement project of the island across from Angier prompted by multiple meetings of Waban Improvement Society and Waban Area Council representatives with City officials (hugs to John Rice) from Parks and Rec to the DPW.
Double-check the Waban Improvement Society’s website to see if there have been any cancellations or changes in the day’s activities due to the weather predictions. The website address is: wabanimprovement.org. And cross your fingers!
I guess I should read Village 14 more often! I took a walk into a sun-drenched Waban Square at 3 p.m. only to discover that I missed the whole darn thing.
Well…it was scheduled to end at 2:30 originally, so you would have missed it! But the forecast on Saturday was for rain and the rides cost a whole lot of money to rent and can’t be operated, even in a drizzle, so they were cancelled. Also, venders were given a choice as to whether to set up or get their money back. (A few set up). Musical programming was set up in the Waban Library Center (and was OUTSTANDING). We had our Waban Area Council table set in there, too. The Family Fun Run took place as planned and was heavily attended and clearly successful.
It was a nice get-together for the neighborhood, but not the vibrant, people-packed bouncing, kiddie-filled morning/afternoon it usually is! Until next year!!!!!!!
Because of the weather forecast, Waban Village Day had an abridged version of its usual festivities: in fact, it ended at 1PM, with very few vendors present. The Crocodile River music group did a great job of involving the kids: letting them play some instruments, teaching them words from Kenya etc…
