free | Newton MA News and Politics BlogUpper Falls Soup Social – The originally scheduled event was postponed back in January due to bad weather.  Tonight (Sat 3/19)  all are welcome from 6 – 7:30 to the Emerson  Center on Pettee St in Upper Falls to sample soups from local restaurants/businesses (Dunn Gaherins, Better Life Food, Green Tea, Jean & Lee’s Kitchens, Farm Grill, Bob’s Sub Stop)

Screening of “20 Feet From Stardom” – Sunday (3/20) at 6 PM, West Newton Cinema will host a free screening of the fabulous documentary about pop music’s most heard, but little known, backup singers.  The free screening is courtesy of Historic Newton, the free popcorn is courtesy of the West Newton Cinema.  This is part of the lead-up to Historic Newtons upcoming Lisa Fischer concert on April 1.

“Molly Sweeney” – Sunday 7:30 PM at Puddingstone Tavern, Brigham Circle.  The much acclaimed production of the Newton Nomadic Theater’s production of Molly Sweeney had its scheduled sold-out closing night performance at Dunn Gaherins two weeks ago.  Since then we’ve tacked on four encore sponsored performances.  The last two are this Sunday’s (3/20) at the The Puddingstone and next Sunday (3/27) at the Brendan Behan Pub in Jamaica Plain (also free)
