About aStorySlam400Width | Newton MA News and Politics Blog year ago, the Newton Nomadic Theater started a series of events called the Nomad Story Slams.  They are nights of community story telling.  Each slam has a theme and anyone can come and throw their name in the hat to tell a five minute story – and they have been wonderful nights of amazing stories.

Our next Nomad Story Slam will be Fri Nov 20 at Gregorian Rugs.  The theme will be “that’s when I knew this was a bad idea” – so start working on your story now!  Tickets available here.

At this point, we’ve held five Nomad Story Slams and have almost 100 great stories captured on video, thanks to NewTV and our great video production crew (Chris Pitts, Maureen Reilly-Meager, Chris Thayer, Laura Johnson, and Walt Frankel)

Every Sunday, I’ll post a single video story from the archive.  This week is a great one from the first Nomad Story Slam.  The theme was “on the road” and the story teller is my Upper Falls neighbor Kate Carney.   Also check out the brand new, very slick introduction courtesy of our video wizard Chris Pitts
