NewTV recently held its first annual Teamwork Trivia Challenge event at the Post 440 in Newton to benefit the community media center’s scholarship and internship programs. The station’s supporters enjoyed lively and friendly competition in Team Trivia, bringing together members of NewTV and the business and creative communities for a good cause.

“Our goal from the outset was to host a fun event that would foster a friendly and spirited competition. Raising supplemental funds to support our intern and scholarship programs was a plus,” said Robert S. Kelly, executive director of NewTV. “The business community stepped up as well as our friends and neighbors. For our first attempt at a Teamwork Trivia Challenge, I would say we exceeded expectations. Attendees genuinely had a blast, and something tells me that tables will be hard to come by next year.”

Former NewTV interns have gone on to successful careers in their chosen field. Many have attributed some of that success to their time at NewTV. Melissa Toupin Randall, Weekend Anchor for ABC6 News/WLNE-TV in Providence, RI and previous NewTV intern reflected, “I truly don’t know if I’d be where I am in my career today without the experience I had during my semester [at NewTV].”

Many thanks to table sponsors Belmont Savings Bank, CK Realty Group, Fattman Productions, ISG Boston, Mystic River Contracting, the Newton-Needham Chamber of Commerce, and Village Bank. All of the tables had centerpieces featuring board games, which were donated to the Boys and Girls Club of Newton. NewTV also thanks Baker’s Best, 3 Squares Needham and The Chateau for fueling the seventeen trivia teams to go two full rounds. In addition to trivia, guests enjoyed a playful photo booth, raffle prizes, and dancing.
