Local activists at OpenCrystalLakes.org are petitioning the board of aldermen to insert the words “except at Crystal Lake” into Section 20-57 of the City’s Ordinances, that bans nude bathing.
After seeing the emotional and pitched battle three years ago about introducing “Swim at Your Own Risk” at Crystal Lake, this is likely to be an uphill battle for proponents. Says activist Deborah Fogel, “we believe that we have broad grassroots support for the change but local abutters have a history of resisting the simplest changes at Crystal Lake”.
A Lake Avenue resident who requested anonymity said of the proposal “Over my dead, fully clothed, body”.
GEEE …. Someone told me three years ago it was clothing optional. I have been taking advantage of it since then. May account for the drop in attendance .
