We now return to our regular Village 14 programming.

I want to thank a friend, who wishes to remain anonymous, for the inspired idea of having the mayor resign to become the Ambassador to Israel.
This was a lot of fun today. Thanks to the Village 14 bloggers who helped feed the rumor mill early on. Apologies to the folks who figured out the ambassador story was a prank from the start whose comments we temporarily removed. All removed comments have been re-posted in the proper chronological order so you can see who commented when.
But mostly thanks to everyone we spoofed for being of good humor and mostly to those who were fooled, even briefly. We did this for you.
We live in a special community, it’s good that we’re able to laugh at ourselves.
I did not cross off much from my to-do list today, but I had a great time not getting anything done!
I’m never writing a true story again. The fictional ones are way more fun.
Tom Mountain recently announced that he was asked by Jim Carville to serve as the Northeast Regional Director for “Republicans for Hillary”.
Even though I could tell it was an April Fools gag, as were these stories, I appreciated the effort all parties put in to try to stump folks.
Well done to all the creative writers! Some of the news items were very, very, plausible ! What fun!
The series of posts on the mayor was masterful – I was sure the first one was an April Fools joke, but as they kept coming a little doubt crept in. Besides, he doesn’t speak Yiddish like Colin Powell. :)
You mean all this was April Fools….damn!!!
Jerry, where is the humor in Mayor resigning “joke”. If you ask me that was done in a bad taste. Especially going in an confirming the story after your original post. Poorly done if you ask me.
To me the stories were a new level of awesome! I can’t decide which was my favorite story.
@Azamat – Yes, humor is always in the eye of the beholder. I’m sorry you didn’t enjoy our mayor-warren-resigns spoof but maybe we’ll have one you like better next year.
I do hope you did enjoy at least one of our many Newton “news stories” from yesterday.
@Alicia – I’m going with the Blue Ribbon Barbecue story
My favorite comment was from THM: ………………..but it was confirmed for me when I dropped by the Mayor’s office and saw a box of matzah. I also saw President Lennon in the Mayor’s office this week measuring the curtains………………..
BTY, traffic on Village 14 was way above average yesterday: We had 8,637 page views, compared to 1,000 to 2,000 or so on average per day last week. I only wish I had known those numbers before I negotiated the sale price with the suits over at The Onion.
All the posts were great. I think spoofing the mayor with follow ups was really funny and loved the part in the V14 sale with Greg leaving with a suitcase full of money. My favorite may be the Blue Ribbon menu change, including the follow up comments. A fun day.
I totally fell for the Mayor Warren resignation article. Terry Malloy had to put me straight!
And I fell for the story that I was getting bags of money.
