Look at what The Street recently added to the Route 9 streetscape.
They’re doing the impossible, making Route 9 a place people actually might want to hang out. And there’s a concert series this summer, too. Compare that to the tacky, lifeless façade at Chestnut Hill Square
This must be for very good ping pong players, otherwise they’ll be running down a lot of balls. Shouldn’t there be nets or something?
What my amateur photography did not show: it’s on a small patch of lawn and shielded by some stonework and landscaping. Works pretty well, so that people aren’t chasing ping pong balls into “The Street”
You can indeed walk on the sidewalk near the awnings of Chestnut Hill Square. There is access near Panera and Seasons 52.
David, thanks for the correction. Last time I was there, it was behind closed gates and appeared to be for emergency egress only. Still, it’s unclear why anyone would want to walk up there.
I did a site visit with the planning department and the developer of CHSq to discuss plans for completing the facade. There are some improvements planned but I will hold my judgment until I see the finished product.
