Join LWVN members for an interesting and informative evening with the two candidates for Mayor of Newton, Mayor Setti Warren and Alderman Ted Hess-Mahan. The event will start at 7 p.m. in the Druker Auditorium at the Newton Free Library, 330 Homer Street in Newton.Send your questions in advance to [email protected] or bring them with you and write them on index cards for our question sorters! We will try to get to as many questions and topics as possible, though might combine some that are on the same topic.
We thank the Newton Free Library for sponsoring this event, and Jo-Ann Berry, of the League of Women Voters of Action, for moderating.
It might be interesting to share some of those questions on Village 14. What about it? What would you ask the candidates?
Would you enforce the sidewalk snow removal ordinance for residences and businesses? If yes, how?
Here’s a question: How do you see the role of Arts and Culture in helping to develop our Village Centers, e.g. the impact of live performances at our Village Day celebrations?
Another question: Would you be in support of developing a significant performing arts/cultural space in Newton?
1. School fees – how will you reduce school fees?
2. Building Maintenance – what is your plan to make sure our city buildings don’t delay maintenance or cancel.
3. Health Insurance – what is your proposal to keep health insurance costs low?
4. 311 – Is this something that THM supports and would he continue?
Recent changes to roads in newton (such as narrowing the streets in Newton Centre, and putting a light on Parker street) have increased travel delays for many people. How will you reduce delays for people traveling around Newton?
