Glance at this week’s reports & agendas, and the word Parking recurs again & again. Of course, the Traffic Council has a report (can we call it the Parking Council?).
Zervas, Fire Station 3 and the Fire HQ have updates. Look for the CIP (capital improvement plan) next week.
Apparently, we don’t have smooth enough technology for remote participation in meetings. Yet.
Finally, allowing overnight parking–will this be the dawn of Newtonites owning multiple cars they store on the street? Will our clear shoulders be a thing of the past? Or is it just me, after 20-plus miles of Tour de Newton, wishing that a few more streets had safe bike lanes instead of parking lanes with only the occasional car?
As to the overnight parking ban- it is more for neighborhoods that have inadequate on-premises parking for the cars they do have, and are forced to find alternative parking during winter months even when there is no snow on the ground. I’m interested to see how that pilot works, as I live in one such neighborhood.
Also of interest, particularly to Newton Corner residents like myself: new business Hopster’s is having its liquor license hearing Tuesday, October 15 at City Hall. I can’t find meeting municipal web site, but Hopster’s has posted about it here:
