Any big municipal project you might find interesting–from Angier and Zervas through Riverside–someone this week is meeting on it.
You can also read the latest in the water and sewer projects, hear debate about the disposition of the Newton Centre Library and 70 Crescent, talk about housing, zoning reform or the spending of last year’s CPC funds.
Or even get really wonky about the city’s risk exposure or campaign sign rules.
Or we could talk about medical marijuana…
Will the 5K for pedestrian/bike enforcement be used against jaywalkers and bicyclists running red lights/failing to yield or signal etc? It’s a serious problem in Newton these days.
@john: the traffic captain told TAG that it covers all three modes–but with the state fine for jaywalking standing at $1, enforcement tends to go vs. vehicles–bikes included
What they should work on is updating the City Clerk’s filing system. It took me more than six weeks, six visits to the City Clerk’s office, plus a visit to the state Registry of Vital Records in Dorchester, just to obtain my marriage certificate from the Newton City Clerk’s office (the orignal marriage certificate was lost by either the city or my officiant). They finally gave me a “delayed marriage certificate,” which I can only hope gets filed appropriately with the city and state, in case I or my wife ever need it. Even after I jumped through a bunch of hoops to get them all the documents they needed to file the certificate, they sat on the documents for more than six weeks. Their glorified shoe-box-and-index-card approach to record keeping ain’t working. Get that stuff online.
Andreae, will there be an investigation into the planning that lead to the Newton Centre and Parker St adventures? Some people feel that the TAG has been taken over by activists and that there is a lack of real expertise there.
