nancy-schon-cool-globeHave you seen the Cool Globes in Boston? Located throughout the Common and other Boston hot spots, Cool Globes: Hot Ideas for a Cooler Planet, is a public art exhibition designed to raise awareness of solutions to climate change. Newton artist Nancy Schon created a globe for the project and it is featured by her Make Way for Ducklings sculpture! The globes will be on display until October 15. Read more about the project and Nancy’s globe here.

Play Me I’m Yours is a collection of pianos placed on the street that encourage you to play them! I love this project A piano worked on by Tova Speter of Newton, which will be displayed in the Boston area. and the way it highlights the unexpected joy of music and art. In Boston the pianos are being presented by the Celebrity Series in honor of its 75th anniversary season. Two Newton artists, Laura Mandel and Tova Speter, lent their talents to the project and transformed two instruments into visual art masterpieces. Read more about the artists on Patch.

See pictures of the Evolution of Sterling (Mandel’s piano) here. (You can “hear” Sterling describe the process in her own words here.)

Play Me I’m Yours will be in Boston from September 27 – October 14.

I hope you can make it into Boston to visit these important exhibits. The art and the messages are worth dwelling over. Congratulations to these talented Newton artists!
