Do you have a favorite restaurant or store in Newton? Is there a small business that makes your local village center something special?
Newton will hold its second annual EDC Business Excellence Awards on October 21, and they’re looking for nominations now. The awards last year were a true celebration of what these merchants and small businesses bring to our city, and there were some incredible expressions of gratitude and appreciation. (You can see a little more about last year’s event here.)
The nomination process is online and much easier this year. Find fill details here and then submit your nominations here. (Of course you can share your ideas in the comments section too — but be sure and complete an official nomination too.)
Please nominate a local small business to show you appreciate everything they do for our community.
(Nominations close on September 4.)
This is a tremendous idea, particularly w the tax increase. The details don’t seem to limit this to small business… did I miss that part?
Annabelle from the green planet is amazing. She has hired a team of people that are friendly and helpful. They are always happy to make suggestions. In addition she is a big supporter of the village. Small toy stores like this are rare, and we buy all of our kids friends gifts here. You won’t find any Barbies here. You will find great games, art kits and many other great things.
@Hoss – nope, no limit to size of business. Last year we had a variety of business types and sizes, although there was a great representation of neighborhood businesses right in the village centers.
@Newton mom – Exactly right! You’re talking about our Newton Highlands village winner from last year. It’s exactly these types of businesses we in the EDC are looking to celebrate.
O’Hara’s and Cabot’s.
And, of course, Dunn Gaherin’s that has so helped put Upper Falls on the map.
