This week’s outdoor concert features Irish band Black Velvet Band and the dusk-time movie is Field of Dreams. This sounds like the perfect scenario for the misters to take the kiddos out!

New England Mobile Book Fair

When longtime illustrator and lover of power tools Lauren Scheuer was looking for a project, she got the idea to raise backyard chickens. Her husband and teenage daughter looked on incredulously as coop sketches and chicken-raising books filled their New England home. But when the chicks arrived, the whole family fell in love with the bundles of fluff and the wild adventures began…

Voices of Newtonville: A Community’s History Through its Own Eyes: Explore the history of Newtonville from its rural beginnings, through its suburban development as a railroad stop, to the changes brought by the construction of the Mass Pike. Join Harvard graduate student and Historic Newton intern Tracy Lindboe as she leads us through the development of Newtonville using historic perspectives and narratives from past Newtonville residents. Meet at the Newton North High School Parking Lot at Elm Road and Walnut Street.

Dance the night away to the sounds of Big Band, Jazz, Dixie and Swing in one of their celebrated “all request” concerts. Bring your requests, this band has a large repertoire of Latin, Reggae, Calypso, Tango, Country, Rock, Blues and Contemporary. You can sure they will be able to play your favorite songs.
