I just got an email from Chris Pitt(s) about some kind of picketing going on down at Newton-Wellesley Hospital today. It was widely reported a few weeks ago that the nurses at Newton-Wellesley Hospital were picketing over their contract.
Apparently, the contract talks are still stalled and the nurses were back on the picket line this weekend and this morning, trying to call attention to the labor dispute.
BTW – the photo isn’t from today. It was apparently from the earlier picketing. I just lifted it from the nurse’s union site.
BTW – After misspelling Chris Pittz name countless time in print, I couldn’t resist one more. After learning that he is not Brad’s long lost, more well known, and more talented distant relative, I henceforth vow to spell his name correctly – PITTS
Thanks Geri, Since that hospital has been in Waban for a 100+ years, I figured the Waban Area Council and the Improvement Society should know something about it. Just when you think you might have a handle on all the major issues that connect to us, turns out you need only turn around!
I know at least one change the hospital wants to make to the nursing staff that I’m firmly against. Last time I got an IV, I was told they want to eliminate the specialized IV nurses. As someone with small veins, I can assure you that IV nurses are not a luxury – regular phlebotomists and nurses are not able to insert IVs on one try for many of us and it can be torture.
