And there’s this from the Newton Police…

Folks, come on, why can’t the city just rid us of the unwanted (by a huge majority if ever sent to the voters) winter parking ban — except when there are declared snow incidents. (If this can succesfully be done over the holidays, it can be done throughout the winter.)
I’ll take this holiday opportunity to thank the men and women of the Newton Police for the extraordinary service and professionalism they demonstrate throughout the entire year. I had reason to call them for an emergency in 2018, and they responded brilliantly. I also watched two officers demonstrate amazing patience in coaxing a lost and barking dog into the safety of a police cruiser, one very late night last summer. More recently, when I called about a suspicious car on my street there was an officer on scene in under two minutes. These folks do a fantastic job that deserves appreciation and acknowledgement.
I have been heartened recently by comments made to me by a number of Councilors and the Mayor’s office indicating a desire to do away with the blanket winter ban for good (except for snow emergencies). I hope this comes to be, and I hope the Councilors from my Ward (1) can step up to the plate on this as well
I so hope you are right Doug. The arbitrary parking ban is the most discriminatory policy affecting the most people in the city of Newton.
